Alaskan Spice Cake
Ingredients:
1 cup Alaskan Stout
1 cup molasses
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
¾ cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
2 cups all purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
2 Tablespoons ground ginger
¼ teaspoon cloves, ground
¼ teaspoon nutmeg, ground
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.In a heavy saucepot, bring Alaskan Stout to a boil then remove from heat and add molasses. Stir well and set aside to cool. Meanwhile cream sugar, brown sugar, oil and eggs together in a large bowl or standing mixer. Add cooled Stout/molasses mix and beat on low-medium speed until light and airy.In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, and spices until combined.Gradually add dry ingredients to the mixture until it is well-incorporated.Spread batter evenly 9in greased bundt pans and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes until the color changes and the surface is springs back when lightly touched. While still warm, turn out onto a wire rack. Let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
